Sarnia Votes:
October 26

I am running for the position of Sarnia City Councillor.
My platform can be summed up as follows:

“A candid, future‑focused plan for growth, modern infrastructure, expanded housing, new investment, and coordinated action on homelessness — leaving behind the tired practice of draining reserves and the illusion of zero debt, a plan  grounded not only in what we need, but in what it takes to achieve it.”

I’m Chris Oram. I served 32 years with the Sarnia Police Service in Criminal Investigations, Professional Standards, Training, and uniform patrol. My career has been shaped by accountability, problem‑solving, and service to the community. I’ve also contributed to several boards and committees, including the Sarnia Police Association, the Sarnia‑Lambton Children’s Aid Society Board, and the Police Pensioners of Ontario.

Sarnia is navigating fast‑changing times, and many issues require thoughtful attention to maintain stability while supporting positive growth. I stand ready to meet those challenges as your City Councillor. I remain committed to contributing my experience and perspective as part of that ongoing work. This website will continue to evolve as I add information, perspectives, and updates on matters affecting our community. I appreciate your interest, and I hope you return often as new material is added.

I’m running to put our city on a more stable, honest path — especially on growth, housing, and long‑term finances. This will not just take a buy-in from council, but all residents!

Thoughts to Ponder

“The federal government has all the money, the provincial government all the power, and city government gets all the problems.”

“Municipal government is closest to the people, but furthest from the money.”

“The strength of our democracy is not found in the absence of conflict, but in our ability to resolve that conflict through peaceful dialogue.”

“Cities don’t control the constitutional levers, but they carry the practical load.”

“In municipal politics, every decision is felt directly by citizens the next morning.”
                             Mayor Bruno Marchand, Quebec City
